Essex Music Education Hub

Essex Music Services (part of Essex County Council) is the lead partner in Essex Music Education Hub. We work with our Hub partners to offer a range of services and opportunities both in-school and within the community. We work with LA schools, academies and free schools.

Essex Music Education Hub is leading on this project.

In addition our ever-expanding offer includes:

  • Quality-Assured individual or group vocal and instrumental tuition and workshops covering a broad range of instruments and musical styles.
  • First Access: 10 x 30min Whole Class Instrumental lessons offered FREE to all KS2 schools.
  • An instrument hire scheme at extremely favourable rates with additional subsidy for children from low-income families and Children in Care.
  • Tuition vouchers for children from low-income families and Children in Care representing 66% of the cost of a lesson.
  • A quality world music programme including Samba, African, Didgeridoo, Indian and Chinese workshops.
  • FREE licences and training opportunities for all schools to access online music resource Charanga through essexonlinemusic.co.uk alongside a range of other technology-focused learning opportunities.
  • Continuing Professional Development: A comprehensive range of structured and bespoke music curriculum and vocal-focused cluster and in-school training sessions for specialist and generalist teachers.
  • Support with school development and improvement plans, the establishment up of music ensembles and choirs and other general support and consultation services.
  • Conferences, seminars, and other networking and skills-share opportunities. Support for school music festivals.
  • A range of projects aimed at pupils with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities.
  • Ambitious extension projects and workshops including partnerships with a range of national organisations and high-quality music experiences for schools.
  • Instrument zoo sessions to introduce pupils to different instruments.
  • Progression routes giving children and Young People the chance to sing or play in our 14 county ensembles and choirs.   We offer an ensembles bursary to support progression for children from low-income families and Children in Care.

  • Over 20 evening and weekend music schools throughout the county.
