Sound Connections

Sound Connections’ mission is to develop, enable and empower young Londoners through music. We achieve this through empowering young people to shape their own musical opportunities; championing professional development with those delivering and managing music opportunities in London; identifying and developing models of best practice in music learning and participation and supporting effective use and implementation; collecting and sharing evidence of the impact of music opportunities on young people and informing and influencing music education policy and practice.

Since 2002, Sound Connections has established itself as a leader in young people’s music-making in London. We deliver groundbreaking musical opportunities, quality professional development and high impact research and advocacy. This holistic approach allows us to shape both practice and policy. We have impacted directly on the lives of over 60,000 young people in challenging circumstances across London, and supported 15,000 musicians to improve their practice.

Our experience of delivery and strategic development across the wider music education landscape is enhanced by our expertise in three specialist areas: Early Years, Challenging Circumstances and Youth Voice.
Our Challenging Circumstances strand aims to reach out to those young people most in need across a range of challenges and geographies, joining up provision between music hubs, youth services and the voluntary sector.

Sound Connections are working in partnership with Essex Music Services to deliver workforce development opportunities for schools involved in the ‘A bright future for SEND music’ project. There will be 4 Inclusive singing sessions on offer to schools with 2 twilight sessions focussed on PMLD schools and 2 twilight sessions focussed on MLD/BESD schools.
